What is an STI and BBV?
STI stands for 'sexually transmissible infection', which are caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. They can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact or bodily fluids such as semen, vaginal and anal secretions, pre-cum, and breast milk. Blood borne viruses (BBVs) can be spread from one person to another through blood-to-blood contact or when infected bodily fluids enter the bloodstream.
What is a client health check?
A visual health check means looking over a client’s body for signs of a sexually transmissible infection (STI) before or during a booking. It is just one of the safer sex tools you can use at work to protect your health along with condoms or other barrier protection methods. Health checks can be performed on all clients, regardless of their gender or body.
